VEGGIE BUNS
🌱 this is
such a fun recipe! I love making dim sum 🥟
Dim sum is a traditional Chinese meal made up of small plates of dumplings
and other snack dishes and is usually accompanied by tea. Similar to the way
that the Spanish eat tapas, the dishes are shared among family and friends.
Typically dim sum is consumed during brunch hours — late morning to lunchtime.
Sunday I felt like making some of these veggie
buns.
The recipe for the dough is by @woon.heng - see
below.
For the filling i chopped one eggplant, 1 carrot, handful of beans and some
mushrooms and stirfried with ketjap manis, tablespoon of sesame oil and one
tablespoon of sambal.
Fry the veggie buns on one side till they have
some colour, then turn over add water till 2/3 - add a lid and steam for 10
minutes. Serve with spicy sauce. It’s about an hour of work which is all gone
in about three minutes :-) my kids love it and I love it more!
Dough
1. To make
the bun wrapper, place flour and salt into a large bowl and mix until well
combined.
2. Make a
well in the middle and pour in the hot water. Using a spatula, fold in all the
flour until a shaggy dough forms with no dry spots of flour in the bowl (if
there is, add cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time).
3. Transfer
the dough onto a cleaned surface and knead into a dough, about 10-12 minutes.
Cover with a damp towel and let it rest for 30 mins.
